Environmental Impact Statement
Environmental protection is a top priority for any water supply project, and the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) serves as a plan for environmentally sound water withdrawals.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) supports the facility expansion as a means of improving dependability of potable water supplies in Charlotte, DeSoto Manatee and Sarasota counties. The EIS was accepted in January 2003. As a result, the EPA will release $9 million in grand funding toward the project.
